Camera Technology
Spectral Devices Inc. develops multispectral sensors (see figure) enabling simultaneous imaging at up to 16 distinct wavelengths. Each sensor contains a multispectral filter array of microscale optical filters whose transmission characteristics are tuned during manufacturing. Each cell of the array contains up to 16 microscale optical filters and each microscale filter (e.g. see B1, B2, B3, or B4 in figure) contributes one pixel to each spectral image. Therefore, the multispectral sensor simultaneously provides a number of unique spectral images equivalent to the number of microscale filters in one cell.
