MULTISPECTRAL IMAGING SYSTEMS

The MSIS-series of multispectral imaging systems combines an MSC-series camera with high power LEDs into a single water and dust-proof housing. The LEDs are arranged into 4 independently controlled channels of 4 LEDs each. Each channel has overdrive pulsed-current output to achieve very high instantaneous light output levels with minimal heating. This enables very fast camera exposure times and uniform lighting of the target. The system ships with an external control box that houses the LED strobe controller and embedded computer system. The system provides video rate recording of multispectral images. Standard systems are designed for specific applications. Customized versions available.

DESCRIPTION
SNAPSHOT VERSIONS
The MSIS-series of snapshot multispectral imaging systems are equipped with a 4-band MSC-series snapshot multispectral camera. Each system also includes 4 LED channels that are wavelength-matched to the camera. LEDs are hardware synchronized to the camera. With a single camera exposure, 4 co-registered, 512 x 512 pixel spectral images are captured simultaneously. The MSIS-VIS8-1-A includes an 8-band MSC-VIS-1-A multispectral camera and broad band white LEDs. The MSIS-VIS8-1-A simultaneously captures 8 co-registered, 256 x 256 pixel spectral images with each camera exposure. Each snapshot MSIS is capable of capturing full-frame images at up to 94 FPS.
LINE SCAN VERSIONS
The line scan version of MSIS is pre-built with a MSC series line scan camera. The line scan camera has 4 distinct filters on the sensor providing high resolution line images in 4 spectral bands. Each LED channel is wavelength-matched to each camera band. With a single camera exposure, 4 co-registered spectral line images are captured simultaneously. Each spectral line image has a 2048 x 1 pixel resolution. Four spectral images of the object are built up simultaneously by stacking a series of exposures as the object moves through the field of the camera.
SEQUENTIAL VERSIONS
The sequential MSIS is the highest resolution model available. The sequential MSIS incorporates a 4MP monochrome camera (MSC-M42-1-A) with 4 LED channels. At the time of order, customers specify the wavelength of each LED channel to customize the system to their specific needs. During operation, each LED channel is flashed in a repeating sequence. During each LED flash, an image is captured by the camera. Four 4 spectral images are acquired with 4 camera exposures. With the camera operating at 94 FPS, one set of four 4 MP spectral images is captured at an effective frame rate of 23.5 FPS. The system is capable of much faster effective acquisition rates if the image size is reduced. For example, a 512 x 512 pixel camera readout will provide an effective frame rate of over 350 FPS.

2NDLOOK FOR WINDOWS
2ndLook is a complete image acquisition software package included with each MSIS (except line scan versions). 2ndLook enables users to connect and acquire images from MSIS imaging systems using a Windows PC. Easily record directly to popular file formats such as AVI and TIFF. Multispectral imaging conversion filters for Spectral Devices cameras are built in. View montage of spectral images in a real-time. View RGB color and NIR images side-by-side (MSIS-RGBN-1-A only). View NDVI images in real-time (MSIS-AGRI-1-A only). Easy to use interface with interactive help and user guides. Capable of recording from multiple MSIS simultaneously.
